Newsletter Nov 2
Well … will you be part of this?
It is now 8 days until the first auditions for Wyrd Sisters. So, there’s still time for you to apply for your audition space.
A little bit about rehearsals
A read-through in November kicks off the rehearsals. I’m looking forward to bringing the cast and crew together to say hello, and to hear, for the first time, the voices telling the story. The beginning of the reading is always a little hesitant but as people start to find their character, the play starts to come to life.
There will be a break until January, because of the summer holidays, and then we’ll get into the fun of rehearsing. We’ll have eleven weeks till show time, with about three meetings a week. But, everyone is not required for all of this and I will plan a schedule around this thought. Currently, Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday have been pencilled in, but this is flexible and timing will be adjusted after the auditions.
During the rehearsals, we’ll analyse the characters, their relationships, and the scenes. We’ll play games, improvise, and learn methods of remembering. There will be a walk-through of each scene and blocking, and we’ll gradually build the play by practicing scenes to find the rhythm of the dialogue, the timing of the humour and those little moments that make a scene work. There will be plenty of creativity, flashes of ridiculousness, the occasional frustration, and then that wonderful moment when everything starts to click.
Creating theatre also creates a family. A group of people who work together, support each other and enjoy the process of weaving a tale. You don’t have to arrive knowing how to do everything, and you’re never too old (or young) to learn lines, which, by the way, is brilliant for the the brain.
